Artist Reception

Last night was the night of the artist reception for me and the other artists represented at the 43 Furnace Art Complex for the Akron Art Prize.

There was live music and refreshments in a lively atmosphere that was carried out all throughout the building in the two gallery spaces.

I entered this piece that I drew onto unprimed canvas with charcoal and pastel.  It is titled "Monochrome to Kodachrome" and depicts my grandparents toasting to a life captured in color by the South China Sea.  The process of honoring my amazing grandparents in this way brought me so much joy!

It was so wonderful to have the support of so many friends who came to the reception and to also enjoy a beautiful, artistic evening in downtown Akron!

Evenings of Art and Entertainment

These last couple of weeks have been so fun checking out all of the art that is a part of the Akron ArtPrize show.  Every week there is a reception at one of the participating venues for the artists featured in that venue.  We went to Night Light and Palladian Pallette where we were able to take part in a painting class demo.  Me and my son had so much fun together doing that and also meeting other artists.

Last night we went to Summit Artspace and enjoyed the live music and refreshments together as we checked out some really great works of art!  Next week, from 6-8pm there will be a reception at 43 Furnace Art Complex where my piece is hung so I am very excited about that coming event!
